Chetan Sakariya Early life:
Sakariya was born in a small village called Vartej which is located 180 Km away from Rajkot of Gujarat on 28th February of 1998. His father’s name is late Kanjibhai Sakariya and his mother is Varshaben Sakariya. He has two siblings. His brother’s name is late Rahul Sakariya and sister’s name is Jignasha Sakariya. He was born in a poor family where his father had to work as a tempo driver in order to fulfill the needs of the family. He finished his schooling at Vidya Vihar High school of Vertej, his hometown. From his childhood, he developed an interest in cricket as well as he was a good student in the school. His father wanted him to be an engineer but due to his love for sports, Sakariya decided to pursue a cricket career. His father couldn’t bear the education cost of Sakariya so his maternal uncle provided the tuition fees and cricket coaching fees and in return, on daily wages, Chetan had to work in his Uncle’s bookshop. Chetan said there was even no television in his house and to watch the cricket matches he always had to rely on his Neighbours house.
Chetan first started playing in his school cricket team. After that, he started playing at different levels. One day he was lucky enough to catch the attention of Rajendra Goyal, a coach of the eminent Cricket coaching institution of Rajkot, while he was playing an interschool cricket tournament and Sakariya, got the chance to enter that institution to develop his cricket skills. later, he trialed for the under 16 Sourashtra junior cricket team but he got rejected then. Due to his indomitable spirit and hard work he finally got the chance in Sourashtra under 19 Cricket team. He debuted in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on 22nd February of 2018 against Baroda and got succeeded to take two wickets for 73 runs and bowling 10 overs.
In Ranji Trophy in the same year, he played first-class cricket for team Saurashtra and bagged five wickets in the first inning and got a total of 6 wickets in the season against the team Karnataka. And next year he debuted in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and picked one wicket. During his match, he lost his younger brother Rahul who committed suicide. Chetan was broken with the sudden death of his brother but with his indomitable courage, he fought back and came back strongly.
With his excellent performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he made his entry possible to the IPL. AND IN 2021 he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals team with a worth of 1.4 crores. Sakariya played his debut match for Rajasthan against Punjab Kings.
In July 2021, Sakariya made his ODI debut for India against Srilanka and also played in T20 International squads for India against Sri Lanka.
