The pandemic continues being the barrier between people and celebration. Just like last year, Garba organizers all over the state are scared of arranging any event at all this year also. As the 3rd wave of Covid 19 still looms over the nation, the business holders are ready to face loss rather than causing another mass destructing wave of the deadly pandemic. The second wave has been scary enough to get the celebratory events to halt. Garba is the longest dance festival in the world that goes on the nine days continuously during Navratri, it attracts thousands of people to an arena. And that many people gathering at various places during the celebration is definitely something which is making the Garba organisers in Gujarat back out this year.
From Gandhinagar to Vadodara, every organizer shares the same fear. Various groups from Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and other cities have already backed out and pointed at the current pandemic condition to be the main reason. A huge number of small business holders earn from these functions. The last year has already caused a great loss for them and as the situation carries on, 2021 also seems to be quite similar. The Bhai Bhai singer Arvind Vegda shared his views regarding the condition stating that the government must provide financial assistance to an extent to the small artists whose families depend on the income that they earn during the Garba events. Although the state government has not released any official statement about the Garba celebration in 2021 yet, the artists will continue to be in worry!
