The Girnar Hills is situated in the Junagadh town in a south-western district of Gujarat. The place is situated at a height of 3672 feet and is covered with a number of Jain temples.
Climate
As the place is situated at such a height, the place is very cold, and cool breezes go on continuously. The average temperature is 23∙C but the temperature sometimes falls up to 14 – 15∙C.
Population
The place is very scarcely populated as the place is situated at a very high altitude, so people who stay there have to face a lot of problems like scarcity of water, transport, people cannot grow crops as the terrain is mountainous. So, very less amount of people stays there. According to a recent census, only 18 families stayed there which comprised of only 53 people.
About
The place is surrounded by Hindu and Jain temples. The best places or temples to visit in Girmar are Dattatreya temple which is a small temple situated on the top of the hill, then there is Jain Derasar which is also a very sacred and religious site to visit here. Goddess Ambe Temple is also a very famous site to visit, but one has to take many steps in order to reach the temple. Jatashankar Mahadev Temple is also a beautiful temple of Lord Shiva or Mahadev. Rishabdeva Temple, Girnar Sadhana Ashram, Parshwanath Temple, Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Uperkot Fort, Ashok Shilalekh, Shri Damodar Hari’s Temple, Damodar Kund Water Reserviour are other famous places to visit here.

There is also a zoological garden named the Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden which is also a very famous place to visit as a lot of species of birds, crocodiles, and snakes can be seen there. An Ayurvedic Museum is also located here which is a very innovative place, as one will be able to see a lot of new things here. A statue of Rani Laxmi Bai is also installed here which has also become a very visited tourist spot nowadays. And if one is interested in shopping so can visit a very famous market named the Dwarikadheesh Market situated nearby.

The nearest airport from Junagadh city is the Keshod airport which is 40 km away. And Rajkot airport is 100 km away. One can take a taxi or book a cab in order to reach Girnar Hill or GirnarParvat. And the nearest international airport is Ahmedabad airport. One can take a bus or taxi to reach the hill. The place is very well connected by roadways with all the major cities and one can avail any bus service or cab to reach the hill. The nearest railway station is the Junagadh junction which is approximately 10 km away, one can take a bus or cab to reach the hill within 40-45 mins.
Best time to visit Girnar
The best time to visit the place is from September to March when the winter season is prevailing as at that time the temperature of the sun is not much and people do not face a problem to roam around and visit different temples.
