Harshal Patel Early life
Harshal’s full name is Harshal Vikram Patel. He was born in Sanand of Gujarat, India on 23rd November 1990. Harshal’s father’s name is Vikram Patel and Darshana Patel is his mother.
He has a brother also, named Tapan Patel. His father works with Prime flight Aviation and his mother is a worker of Dunkin Donuts.
From his childhood, he grew an immense interest in crickets and aspired to be a cricketer in the future. But in 2005, his parents decided to move to the USA along with their boys.
His brother then supported him to stay in India for his Cricket matches and he stayed back. He is officially a USA citizen and holds a Green card. His hometown is in Linden, New Jersey, USA.
Cricket Career
Domestic Career
Patel’s debut match for Gujarat domestic team was in 2009-10 where he performed with excellence that made his brother think of staying back in India for his future matches.
Then he got the chance to be a part of the under 19 World cup team in 2010 in New Zealand. There he got the chance to take an entry to IPL with two other players for the team Mumbai Indians.
Next year he got rejected in the Gujarat team and decided to focus on only domestic cricket for some time.
Ranji Career
In the year 2011-12, he made a splendid record in Ranji Trophy with eight boundaries in the semi-finals and quarter-finals of the match along with Rajasthan and the team of Karnataka.
IPL Career
After focusing on Domestic Cricket for some time, finally, in the year 2012, he signed the contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
After that in 2018, he was bought by Delhi Capitals in the IPL auction. In 2021 just before the 14th season on IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore took him and he debuted in his first IPL match on 9th April 2021 for Royal Challengers Bangalore and got succeeded to take 5 wickets against defending champions team Mumbai Indians.
Patel’s 5 wicket haul in the IPL season became the third-best bowling figure and he became the first-ever player who took 5 wickets of Mumbai Indians.
In the same season, he became the third bowler who made a hattrick for his team Royal Challengers Bangalore by taking wickets of Hardik Pandya, Rahul Chahar, and Kieron Pollard.
By the end of 2021 IPL, he became the highest wicket-taker who took 32 wickets in a single season.
International Career
In 2021 of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, this right arm medium bowler got selected for the Indian team.
Harshal also got an entry to the squad of T20 International for their series against New Zealand and made his international debut for India against New Zealand by taking 2 wickets and a total of taking 4 wickets in the series made him the Player of the match.
