Jaydev Unadkat Early life
Jaydev’s full name is Jaydev Dipakbhai Unadkat. He was born on 18th October 1991 in Porbandar of Gujarat. His father’s name is Deepak Unadkat. He finished his schooling at St. Mary’s school of Porbandar. From his early childhood, he grew immense interest and love for cricket and started to play in his school cricket team as an opener. Soon he decided to aspire to be a cricketer and focus on his cricket skill. He was first being noticed by Ram Odera, a cricket coach while he was playing in a school cricket tournament.
His career journey in cricket started under the guidance of Ram Odera and he got the chance to play in 2010 under 19 World Cup for India. Due to his excellent bowling style, he soon caught the attention of everyone. In the 2010 Ranji Trophy, he made his debut for his team Saurashtra and Unadkat still plays domestically for the team Saurashtra. In the 2019 Ranji Trophy Season Jaydev was indomitable and with his excellent performance, he became the second player of Saurashtra who picked up 200 wickets in total throughout the season. He became the highest wicket-taker of the 2019-20 season. In the 2018-19 Duleep Trophy he played for India Blue and in the 2018 Deodhar Trophy, he played in the India B squad.
Jaydev was never a consistent player for any IPL franchise throughout his IPL journey. He first debuted with the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the IPL. Then he moved to Royal ChallengersBangalore. From them, he was picked by Delhi Daredevils then and came back next season to the team he started his IPL career with i.e. Kolkata Knight Riders. But from then again he was bought by Rising Pune Supergiants and he was the man behind their winning in 2017. After that Rajasthan Royals with a sum of 11.5 crores, bought Unadkat for their team. Unadkat continues to play for Rajasthan but in 2018 due to his inconsistent performance they released him and again in the next year’s auction bought him with a lower price and he is continuing his playing for team Rajasthan as of now.
On Unadkat’s first-class cricket debut against West Indies, he took 13 wickets. After that, he first debuted in his international match for India in 2010 December at Centurion against South Africa. Jaydev in 2016, made his T20 International debut for Team India against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club.
In February 2021, Unadkat tied his knot with his girlfriend Rinny Kantaria and this couple is happily spending their married life together.
