Kirtidan Gadhvi is an Indian classical singer who is celebrated throughout the country for his contribution to classical music. He has a huge fanbase in Gujarat. Born and raised in Valvod, Anand district, in Gujarat, Gadhvi went to Janta Vidyalaya, Bhadaran. His father, Samratdan Gadhvi, was a famous singer. So, his interest in music flows through the blood. He completed his schooling at Bhadran High School. He entered a local college to pursue B. Com. Although, he could never gain interest in any other studies rather than music. Finally, he entered MS University in Vadodara, where he received a BPA and MPA in music from the Faculty of Performing Arts. He totally indulged in music. His specialty is in Dayra, a type of native music.

After finishing his education, he started to write and sing Gujarati jingles. Later, he got appointed as a music professor at Dholakia College of Music. While teaching music, Gadhvi’s struggle to emerge as a singer continued. His first stage performance was in Ramodal, Kheda district. With his detailed knowledge of Gujarati traditional and folk music, he began to achieve success. He put a different touch on folk music and created his own genre.

By developing the tribal songs in his own form, ultimately giving a new life to the Gujarati folk songs, Kirtidan Gadhvi became a shining star in Gujarati music. He remains an iconic singer. Most of his songs have become popular hits within no time. His soulful songs consist of “Somnath Mahadev Ni Arti”, “Vishambhari Stuti”, “Mogal Taro Aadhar”, “Jay Ganesh Deva”, “Govadiyo Kanudo Morli Vado”, “Melo Che Maa Ne Walo”, “Alkn Dhani Avinashi”, “Mara Kanuda Ne Koi”, “Sayir Su Karu”, “Madi Tu To Gadi”, “Angan Talavadi”, “Mathe Matukdi Mahi Ne”, “Kanudo Kalo Kalo”, “Ahir Ni Dikri”, “Hari Harani Marji”, and many more. “He Jag Jan Ni” and “Gagan Gadh Ramva Ne Halo” stand at the top of the list.
Not only Gujarati songs, but Gadhvi has also sung several Hindi songs, which are “Sun Raha Hai Na Tu”, “Jogan Ban Gayi”, “Sanso Ki Mala Pe”, “Qawali”, “Nagar Mein Jogi”, and “Mujhe Tum Yaad Karna Aur”.
Kirtidan Gadhvi is a big name in folk music. He joined hands with Bollywood composer duo Sachin – Jigar to sing “Teri Laadki Me” for Coke Studio India. He performed there along with the composers, sensational singer Rekha Bhardwaj and Sachin’s daughter Tanishka Sanghvi. This song Composed & Arranged by Sachin-Jigar.
Gadhvi’s name went into the news headlines when, in 2015, he participated at a cow protection rally themed concert, and notes of 500 and 1000 rupees were showered upon him. The rally ended up earning a total of 4.5 crores through that. Reportedly, he attends more than 200 programs a year.
The “Nagar Me Jogi Aaya” singer performs in various countries for Gujarati immigrants and NRIs. He has toured in New Zealand, Canada, the USA, England, and many more countries which is proof of how he is renowned even outside India. The amazing singer was honored with the prize of “Best Singer” by the Gujarat state government in 2015. Gadhvi, at present, along with contributing to music, is also teaching at Bhavnagar University.
