But it had become difficult to get its tickets from Thursday itself. The situation was that the first show of this film, which was officially releasing on July 21, in India was at 11.59 pm on the 20th. In National Cinema Chains alone, more than 2 lakh tickets for the film were booked in advance.
Seeing this kind of craze, it was sure that ‘Oppenheimer’ is going to be a big hit at the Indian box office. Before Nolan’s film, many big Hollywood franchise films have been released this year, which are very popular in India.
Cinema fans interested in the film business had full hope that ‘Oppenheimer’ is going to give tough competition to the earnings of these films.
Now the first day collection of Nolan’s film has come to the fore and this film has fully lived up to the expectation.
‘Oppenheimer’ dominates the box office on the first day
Despite not being in the masa-masala, or action thriller genre, Nolan’s film did a solid opening day at the box office.
Trade reports suggest that ‘Oppenheimer’ has made a box office collection of Rs 13.5 crore. Leaving aside big films like ‘Pathan’ and ‘Adipurush’, many Bollywood hits of this year have also not been able to make such an opening collection.
While Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’ had an opening of Rs 13.5 crore, Karthik Aryan’s ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ collected only Rs 8.75 crore on the first day. While Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ collected only Rs 5.25 crore on the opening day.
Biggest opening for Hollywood
Prior to ‘Oppenheimer’, the latest installment of the Mission Impossible series, the latest installment of Fast and Furious and two Marvel superhero films also released in India this year.
These films also got a solid start at the box office, but now ‘Oppenheimer’ has left them all behind. Nolan’s film has become the biggest opening Hollywood film in India this year.

1. Oppenheimer – Rs 13.5 crore
2. Fast and Furious Rs 10- Rs 12.5 cr
3. Mission Impossible 7 – Rs 12.3 crore
4. Ant Man 3 – Rs 8.4 crore
5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – Rs 7.3 crore
On Friday, 3 pm shows were also held for ‘Oppenheimer’ at many places and these too were completely full. The cost of the most expensive ticket in India for the film is more than two and a half thousand rupees.
While the tickets for this price are also completely sold out for this weekend. After a solid opening on Friday, the film is expected to see a big jump in its collections on Saturday
