Sabarmati Riverfront is a blissful place to sit and enjoy nature. This place is located on one bank of the river Sabarmati.

The beauty of this place lies in its Waterbodies and Diversity of birds which is home to more than 120 species of migratory and native birds

HISTORY

The first-ever proposal of riverfront was made in the year 1960s by the citizens of the city. French architect Bernard Kohn presented the idea of integrated planning and development by reducing the land to 30 hectares. Later in the year 1976, Riverfront Development Group thought of starting construction on the bank of river Sabarmati. In the year 1992, the Government took the initiative to reduce water pollution.

A Committee was set up by AMC named Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd. The fund of ₹ 1 Crore was invested in the planning committee of Bimal Patel. Firstly the project was 10.4 km which is from Subhash Bridge to Vasna. In 2003 the limit was extended to 11.25 km the cost of the project was around ₹1,200 crore.

In 2005 the construction started and completed in the year 2012 after facing lots of issues such as water level and slum r etc.

On 15 August State Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and after that the place is open for everyone to visit and sit and enjoy there

THINGS DO AT RIVERFRONT

The entry is absolutely free for the visitors. They can go flower park timings 9:00 am to 10: pm closed on Monday’s charges are ₹20 for the person above 12 years and  ₹10 for the age group of 5 to 12 years and free entry for the kids below 5 years and old age people and disabled people. There are 2 promenades lower one is meant for cycling and water sports and certain public events are also hosted there such as Happy Street and the upper promenade is used for several markets such as Ravivari and Gujari Bazar. You can go and visit the market any time in the day and the fun part is boating
